With the end of the year rolling around the corner, many students are trying to prepare for their upcoming AP exams starting in May. Many students struggle to find ways to prepare for these exams; so, what can students do to prepare without having to pay much?
A popular option for students is either buying AP prep books or accessing free online textbooks that provide short lessons on each unit, providing multiple assessments on specific units, and/or providing full-length AP exams to help students practice. Princeton Review, and Barron for example, are the most popular and highly recommended review books for students to buy and cover most AP subjects while costing between $10-$35 depending on what version and how used the review book is. If someone is looking for something more accessible, however, the AP College Board or Khan Academy websites are great resources for students to practice with Unit Assessments and have short lessons on each topic and unit.
YouTube and Online videos are another way to practice and prepare for an AP exam. Heimler for example, is a YouTuber that covers AP World, AP U.S., AP Euro, AP Human Geography, and AP Government, providing explanations and overviews of certain topics and units, making him a popular YouTuber to watch for specific AP History courses. For AP Chemistry, YouTubers such as Jeremy Krug and Abigail Giordano, provide practice problems and help explain certain topics and units in AP Chemistry, making them good videos to watch to learn more and practice AP Chemistry. Overall, it depends on what AP classes students want to prepare for, but students can easily find videos that cover certain topics or subjects by just searching it up, “For AP tests, I’d say the number one thing is taking practice tests and practice questions, I think you can do that through college board their website, so do that, and then ask your AP teacher’s if they can give you extra practice to do as well. There are a lot of YouTube videos out there as well, they can give you advice on like what to study and tricks you can use to get through the problems. And then past that it’s mostly like, make sure you know your time management for tests and stuff because that can really creep up on you,” said Timothy Ellis.
Overall, there are many different types of methods and ways students can prepare for their AP Exams, but these are the recommended ways that students study for their AP courses.
