The Kraken’s first playoff run is over with Dallas winning game seven 2-1 and sending the Stars to the western conference final. The Stars will face the Vegas Golden Knights in that series which starts on Friday in Vegas.

The first period was a defensive and goalie shutdown for the Kraken. In the first period alone, they blocked 13 of Dallas shots. By the end of the first the game was still scoreless.

The second started out the same way but Dallas started the scoring in game seven when Kraken D-man Jamie Oleksiak got the puck stolen from the blue line by Dallas Roope Hintz. Hintz then sped up and then put a shot right over Seattle’s goaltender Philipp Grubauer’s blocker at 15:59 of the second period.

At the end of the second the score was 1-0 Dallas with the shots being 20-15 in favor of the Stars.

In the third period it was all Dallas going in and with 12:48 in the third period Wyatt Johnston scored Dallas second goal of the game. Where he chased down a clear attempt from Evgenii Dadonov before lifting a backhand off of Grubauer’s left shoulder.

After pulling Grubauer Seattle had the extra attacker with not much time left in the game. But then with 17 second remaining Oliver Bjorkstrand scores and puts the Kraken on the board 2-1. With the last remaining second winding down Vince Dunn shoots a shot which goes off of Oettinger with the rebound going into the corner ending the game 2-1.

Dallas goaltender Jake Oettinger made 22 saves in game seven. He is now 5-0-0 in the playoffs following a loss. And Philipp Grubauer made 26 saves for the Kraken in game seven.

Dallas was the last team to advance to the conference finals in which they will play Vegas on Friday. Dallas played Vegas in the last conference finals they went to in 2020. They went on to win the series in five game but then lose in the final to the Tampa Bay Lighting.

While the Kraken got eliminated, their season was still a huge success. With them clinching their first playoff berth in their second season ever and winning their first ever series against the defending champions Colorado Avalanche. They proved everyone wrong and showed that they belong in this league.
