The annual Blood Drive is coming up this Thursday Feb. 22 from 7:30 until 1:30. To donate you must be 16 or older. Senior Selina Pekarek and Junior Jomary Olympio are co-committee chairs for this event through ASB.

“I have always wanted to do the Blood Drive since the beginning of the year, so I decided to sign up, and Corwin selected me as a committee chair. We have had a lot of responsibilities including: passing out new and improved permission slip forms for the donors, make announcements over the intercom, buy food, and on Thursday we will be at the Blood Drive all day watching people sign up, get their blood drawn, and sent back to class,” Pekarek said.

“There have been about 140 students who have signed up to get their blood drawn in about four days. Our goal this year in ASB was to get about 120 students, in past years there have been about 100 students, so we met our goal,” Pekarek said.

“Right now, Selina and I are passing out permission slip forms to students who have signed up for the Blood Drive and talking to teachers. I first for involved with this committee because Mrs.Corwin had asked me, and I said yes. I soon realized that I really liked the Blood Drive, and I had never really been a chair of a committee before,” Olympio said.

The girls say that Mrs Corwin was a big help to them on the event.

“Mrs. Corwin inspires me, because she is always there, and a mother figure. If you go up to her she will always give you the truth, and you know you can trust her. She will work with you, and explain things to help you understand. She also gives you responsibility, but not too much where you are to the point of being overwhelmed. I really respect Mrs. Corwin,” Olympio said.
