It Smells Like Christmas
December 13, 2017
The holidays are approaching and if you aren’t sure what to get something for a gift then bake! Baking is a great way to people’s hearts. Here are some of the best holiday recipes that you should try out.
The first is sugar cookies, they are always a big hit especially if you decorate with sprinkles and add frosting.
Ingredients:
3 cups all-purpose flour
¾ teaspoon baking powder
¼ teaspoon salt
1 cup unsalted butter, softened
1 cup sugar
1 egg, beaten
1 tablespoon milk
Powdered sugar, for rolling out the dough
Preheat the Oven to 375 F
Put together flour, baking powder and salt then set it aside. Next, put butter and sugar into a bowl and mix until it’s a light color. Then add the eggs and milk. Dump the first bowl into the second one and stir. Now divide the dough into two and set aside in the fridge for two hours. Put the powered sugar onto the surface where you will be rolling out the dough. Begin to roll out the dough and place the shapes onto the rolled dough to make your designs. Then place onto the tray and set it in the oven for 7 to 9 minutes.
Next is peppermint kiss thumbprint cookies.
Ingredients:
1 cup butter
1 cup powdered sugar
2 egg yolk
1 teaspoon vanilla
½ teaspoon almond extract
2 ¼ cups flour
½ teaspoon baking powder
¼ teaspoon salt
Peppermint Hershey’s kiss
Preheat the oven to 350
Mix together egg yolks, vanilla and almond extract. In another bowl mix the flour, baking powder and salt. Slowly mix the two bowls together. Then roll the dough into small balls, place them onto the baking sheet and press your thumb into each one. Let them bake for 10-12 minutes. Take them out and set a peppermint Hershey’s kiss in the center of the thumbprint.
Another great holiday treat is snowman cake pops. This recipe doesn’t require many ingredients.
Ingredients:
1 pack of chocolate cake mix
½ cup plus 1 can, cream cheese frosting
36 lollipop sticks
Sprinkles, M & M, or anything else you want to use to make your snowman
First, follow the directions on the cake box you have. After doing so take the cake from the pan and crumble it into a bowl. Next, add the ½ cup of frosting and mix them together. Now slowly take piece of the dough and begin to make 36 balls at about ¾ inches, and another 36 at 1 inch. Place the now made balls into the freezer for about 2 hours.
Afterwards, to assemble the snowmen, take the lollipop stick and place two of the cake pop stacked on top of each other. Next, frost the snowman with whatever color frosting of your choice. Add sprinkles and enjoy.
