The 2018 Grammy Nominations are out, with artists like JAY-Z, Childish Gambino, Kendrick Lamar and Bruno Mars leading the pack.
Reactions varied from the nominated artists, like Cardi B, who is nominated for Best Rap Performance and Best Rap Song.
“Two of them !!Thank you Lord,” Cardi said on Instagram.
Bobby Tarantino, known as Logic, was nominated for Song of the Year and Best Music Video, also shared his excitement on Twitter.
“Today I was woken up by my wife calling to tell me I was nominated for Song Of The Year at the Grammys and Best Music Video. I can’t even believe this tweet! I HAVE TO GO BUY A SUIT NOW!” following with the hashtag “#RattPack,” Logic said.
Nominated for Best Rap Album, Tyler the Creator simply posted “cool beans” onto his Twitter.
Record of the Year this nominations include “Redbone” by Childish Gambino, “Despacito” by Luis Fonsi & Daddy Yankee featuring Justin Bieber, “The Story of O.J.” by JAY-Z, “Humble” by Kendrick Lamar, and “24K Magic” by Bruno Mars.
Best New Artist includes artists SZA, known for her album Ctrl, Julia Michaels, who put out the single “Issues,” Lil Uzi Vert who debuted Luv is Rage 2 this year, Khalid, known for his singles “Location” and “Young Dumb & Broke,” and Alessia Cara who was featured on “1-800-273-8255” and is best known for her single “Scars to Your Beautiful”.
Best Pop Solo Performance nominees are Kelly Clarkson for “Love So Soft”, Kesha’s “Praying”, “Million Reasons” by Lady Gaga, “What About US” by P!nk and Ed Sheeran’s “Shape of You”.
Some people on Twitter have expressed outrage towards certain nominations and some ‘snubs’, with artists like Harry Styles and Taylor Swift receiving one to no nominations.
Non-musical artists such as Bernie Sanders, who was nominated for the audiobook recording of his book “Our Revolution”, and the composer for Game of Thrones was nominated for Score Soundtrack.
