Ro-wing Away

As many of you may have heard, Coach Rosenbach will be leaving GP after this school year. He has accepted a job at Union High School in Vancouver, Washington. “Change is hard, it’s hard to make that decision. It’s scary to go into the unknown. You’re in a safe place where you know everyone and the expectations are already set and then you go into something totally unknown,” Coach Ro said.
Sometimes family needs to come first. “I’m leaving for my daughter. I want to be closer to my family and my daughter,” Rosenbach said. His daughter Gabi is a freshman at Union High School. He will be taking on the same positions at Union that he held here, a teacher and a coach.
He is leaving behind a legacy here. Rosenbach has been the only head football coach in Glacier Peak’s history. He started when the school opened in 2008 and completed eight seasons with the football program. In his time here, he has won four conference titles and reached the state tournament four times.
“I’m going to miss the kids the most for sure,” Rosenbach said. Moving to a new school can be nerve-racking, but Ro said he’s excited to start fresh and begin a new legacy at Union High School. The football community is very supportive of Ro’s decision. “Ro did an amazing job setting up this school for success, but he’s gotta do what’s best for him. We all wish him the best and we’re going to keep moving forward and see what we can do for the GP community,” assistant coach Nick Bender said. It feels bittersweet. As coach Ro wraps up his time here, students and staff are understanding and excited for his new adventure.

Coach Ro has definitely made a huge positive impact at GP. Not only on the football field, but in the classroom and community also. It’s sad to see him go but its also cool that he’s starting a new chapter in his life. Congrats to him!!

I’ve only had coach roe(or is it ro?) for 1 semester and even through the almost childish but serious at times math class he runs, I can tell he’s always devoted to what ever he wants to be devoted to and now he’s leaving behind the school he has spent 8 years of his life nurturing, the community of GPHS has grown so much and when I first arrived here as a freshman this year I knew that this place would contain amazing people and coach roe is one of those people. I admire the coaches spirit, and hope that Union High school meets the same coach and teacher I met just this last semester.
