As the holiday season approaches, our students are taking time to recognize less fortunate families and children who can’t afford gifts. The Honor Society has chosen to sponsor a toy drive. They have asked students to bring in small presents to give to the families in need. They are asking for gift cards or any small items worth about $10 although any donations are accepted.

This Toy Drive runs through December 11 and students are collecting donations at the front doors of school every morning.

Honor Society President Chloe Derezes has been helping with the Toy Drive for the past week. “Donating items helps so many families have presents under their trees that wouldn’t be there if we didn’t help,” Derezes said.

All the gifts are donated to the Maltby Food Bank and currently Glacier Peak is the only school donating to this location which means they need as many donations as possible.

“We are closer to our goal right now then we were last year,” Derezes said. “If we keep up the work we could bring in more gifts then we ever had in the past.” Make this holiday season one to remember by sharing and not just receiving. Glacier Peak has an opportunity to make families happy with a small gesture.
