All the air in the room was drawn out with a gasp following a loud thud. During the third quarter with 7:28 on the clock, Junior Zach Argue suffered from a neck/head injury with the Shorecrest lead of 32-34 on the board. The entire room paused with exception of players scattering away and Coach Hunter, Coach Bonner, and the Athletic Trainer rushing to Argue’s side.

The hushed room watched in shock as he lay on the ground wincing in pain, Argue’s team began to huddle around with concern, making sure he was okay. The crowd sat in silence except for the occasional cry in distress for their friend who lay motionless on the ground, only his chest rising and falling as his mother and coaches calmed him down. The paramedics arrived after an amount of time that felt like forever, but was only about ten minutes, the EMT’s slowly and carefully transitioned Argue off the floor and on to a backboard and securing his neck with a brace. They then lifted him to the gurney and pushed him out of the gym and in to the ambulance, the grizzly fans roared in applause showing their support and love for Argue.

Following the injury, officials gave the team a warm up period before the game commenced further. With a Shorecrest Colt lead of 34-32 on the clock, the game was very close and there was still a chance of a Grizzly return. Jacob Argue, Zach’s brother scored the first shot and evening the score and went on to gain the grizzlies another 8 points giving the grizzlies a ten point lead, seemingly enough for his brother. After each shot the Grizzly fans roared in applause and excitement. The grizzlies completely switched the momentum of the game and went on to win with a seven point lead.

After the game fans took to twitter to share their support for argue, “After all that happened! Prayers go to Argue!” Argue’s football teammate Devyn Rainbow said.
