The Boys’ Soccer team found themselves in a matchup against Arlington High School on Friday, March 28, and after a hard-fought game, the boys’ JV squad came out on top with a stunning 14-0 victory. Nik Villasenor explains the team’s mindset going into this match and how they are feeling after it, “Coming off a win against Cascade, that was our first win, so we had to come in strong against Arlington. I felt confident going in ’cause of statistics and was confident in our team, we were doing good in practice, so I think we are doing amazing.” Villasenor said.
Overall, the team performed great all around. Midfielder, Christopher Andrews, describes his performance as well as the teams, “I played really well I think, I was passing a lot, getting open, finding entry points. We passed good, we were open, creating a lot of plays and opportunities, spreading their defense, overall, I think we did great.” Andrews said.
Moving forward, with the bar set so high, the team wants to win more games and perform as well as they did against Arlington. Captain, Tejit Kumar, talks about the expectations going forward into the season, “It feels great, cause our previous games we haven’t been scoring much so we felt like we didn’t have a bunch of opportunities to score and we weren’t a scoring team, but as a team now, with our 14-0 victory, we gained a great boost of confidence cause 14-0, nobody just randomly gets that, and now that know we can score, we feel like we are a powerful team in the league and we actually have a chance against most other teams.” Kumar said.
With a good chunk of the season left, the JV boys team feels like they have a whole lot more to prove, and with a rematch against Arlington on April 25th, they hope to live up to their original victory’s set expectation.
