Winter enthusiasts were pleased this past weekend with the season opening of a few Washington ski areas, Stevens Pass being one of them. If you were lucky enough to make it up, you were greeted with a bountiful amount of snow, virtually no crowds, and an all-around good vibe on the mountain. It was an odd sight to see this much snow still so early in the season, but people took full advantage of the snow and terrain that they were given. People’s lives are finally starting to make sense again as they see the same familiar faces from seasons past. It’s this down-home feeling that keeps people coming back year after year. Senior Tyler McAfee managed to make it up to the pass to sample some of the goods.

“It was a great weekend of riding with friends and enjoying the snow. The snow was really good as it kept falling and the skiing got better and better as they continued to open more lifts,” McAfee said.

After an epic opening weekend for Stevens Pass, it was met with more precipitation in a more liquefied form. This caused the pass to temporarily close due to lack of snow. But fear not because Old Man Winter has returned and in full force. The resort is back up and running with currently five out of their eight lifts so far with more lifts scheduled to open very soon, and should remain open for the duration of the season conditions permitting.
