They don’t call it March Madness for nothin’. With fierce competition, teams either advance, or their season comes to an end. Regionals and state are getting closer for the Grizzlies boys and girls teams after they advanced Thursday night, sweeping through districts each taking first place. Both teams are off to the Regional playoffs. The boys team plays in Spokane verses Gonzaga Prep Friday, Feb 24 at 6:00 p.m. at University High School. The Lady Grizzlies are se to play Saturday, Feb 25 at 4:00 p.m. at Jackson High School versus Bellarmine Prep.

The grizzlies are guaranteed a spot at the Tacoma Dome, win or lose in regionals. They are playing for their ‘seed’ placement and whether or not they will have a ‘bye’ game the first round or have to play on day one. The advantage to the ‘bye’ game is that they will have a chance to watch the opposition before they have to take them on.

Regionals should be competitive as Gonzaga Prep is 22-1 and Bellarmine Prep has a record of 23-1. Gonzaga Prep lost their only game by three and Bellarmine Prep by one. According to The Herald, The Grizzlies are limiting their opponents to 47.2 points per game, second best in 4A behind Gonzaga Prep.
