As the girls varsity basketball team stepped onto the hardwood on the night of December 3rd it was obvious from the look on their faces that they had a lot to play for tonight. On the other side of the floor wasn’t just another team, and tonight wouldn’t just be another game in the books, it was the cross town rival the Snohomish Panthers.

This was more than a game for the grizzlies. They would use this game to measure how good they could really be this season and also to hold their winning streak against the panthers. ”It was an awesome team win. We played our hearts out not just for ourselves but for our school” said sophomore Kayla Watkins. “As a team we couldn’t feel any more accomplished to take a deep breath and look up at that score board to see we got that W” Watkins said.

As the rivals battled back and forth Glacier Peak sealed the win in the fourth quarter with a score of 55-50. For some, friendships were put on pause for the night. “It was fun playing against Snohomish because I have friends on the team but for the night I couldn’t really think of them as my friends for the time period of the game” said junior Natalie Rasmussen. “We play a totally different game then Snohomish. They like to slow it down but we love to run and transition” said Rasmussen.
