Black Panther broke many records, it was the biggest opening weekend ever for a movie that was directed by a person of color and it also had the biggest Monday gross. It was released on February 16th and it’s already the #1 movie. It has already made over a billion dollars worldwide at the box office in the month that it has been out.

The movie starts out in Oakland, California with T’Challa, Erik and a few other kids but then the movie travels to a futuristic country in Africa, Wakanda. T’Challa wants to help people and he became king and to do that. The movie has an emotional side that will make most cry.

“Black panther is most certainly an action-packed marvel film, but it carries the emotional weight that most superhero films tend to gloss over. This is a film that is absolutely fantastic on its own. It features tons of beautiful shots of the technologically advanced kingdom Wakanda and stunning African-influenced costuming. Despite being a superhero film, there are quiet a few dramatic scenes between T’Challa and his family members. The story, thought, on a much smaller scale than most Marvel films, is original and draws the audience in,” Layla Youssef said.

“I thought that Black Panther was extremely interesting because the character, Erik was considered a ‘bad guy’ because he wanted to use violence for a good cause. It made him a relatable and likable character which gave the movie something special,” Jordan Handshy said.

Black Panther is a Marvel movie filled with thrill and excitement, but also has an emotional side which is something that most superhero films don’t show to the audience. Over all, the movie was great and if you’re looking for a good movie to watch with your friends, then this is an awesome movie to watch.
