A new app is quickly growing more popular and gaining more downloaders: HQ. Gaining hundreds of thousands of users in just a few months, HQ is becoming the app store’s most downloaded app. This app is unlike any other, because it includes things that other apps don’t include: a live game show host, and real money as a prize.

How it works is simple. After registering as a user, you can begin to play. Twice a day, at 12p.m. and 6p.m., the app goes live. Every time offers a different amount of money for the winner(s), ranging anywhere from $1,500- $1,000,000. Five minutes before, a countdown happens, and then the shows host, Scott Rogowski, begins the trivia. There are 12 questions. The questions start out very easy, asking things such as “What is Popeye’s favorite food”. As the questions progress, they get harder and harder. If you answer a question incorrectly, you’re disqualified from playing. But don’t worry- you can come back in a few hours and try again. If you answer all 12 questions correctly, you and whoever else answered them correctly, get to split the amount of money the prize was.

“I found out about this app because my older sister started playing it,” Senior Lilly Christianson said, “It’s actually really cool that the app gives out real money if you win, I’ve never heard of an app like that. I’m not a huge fan of the host, Scott, because he talks a little bit too much during the game. But it’s really fun trying to get every question right.”

Christianson said that this is a fun way to bring people together, because everyone can sit in one room and answers the questions together. Or, it is somewhat of a competition between friends for who get the most answers correct.
