“I believe that supporting local artists is incredibly important. It’s really such a blessing to live near Seattle, which has such a rich history of innovation and art. In the 90s, grunge music came from Seattle and spread worldwide; before that, we had strong jazz, folk, and rock scenes. While grunge has faded from current mainstream music, Seattle is still filled with talented indie artists if you know what to look for. I’ve gone to a few shows at the Neptune Theater, my favorite venue. My favorite concert there was a classic rock tribute concert comprising over 20 local artists of all different musical backgrounds. The tickets are super affordable and easy to get, no Ticketmaster wars. It’s also very easy to make it to the front row. In my opinion, there’s very little that compares to watching someone play your favorite song on the guitar less than five feet from your face. Also being able to have conversations with the artists afterwards is such a wonderful experience. So support local artists, they’re really underrated,” Caroline Mellis said.
