“I started skiing, and basically, like all of my hobbies, my dad got me into it. I’m a third-generation skier, my grandparents still ski, and both my parents ski, and all my siblings and me ski. I’ve been skiing for 14 years now. I stayed pretty mediocre until about three years ago when I realized that I actually kind of had a talent for it, just because of doing it for so long. I got my form down, and I wanted to try pushing myself, and I actually took it upon myself to hold myself accountable when it came to the performance of it and the form and the tricks, as well as to involve myself in ski culture. One of my favorite memories is when I started getting better than my dad and I was taking him on runs that made him feel uncomfortable; that was kind of funny,” Johnston said.
