I am starting rowing. My sister did it so that should be pretty cool. I’m scared though because I heard that there’s this thing called getting crabbed. It’s when your oar gets stuck. I saw videos of people getting thrown out of boats and I don’t want to get thrown out of the boat. My sister’s got really strong shoulders, and I want that. She built up a lot of muscle and it’s still there. It’s really impressive so I was like, “Ok, I’ll try,”. I want more confidence and I want to be stronger. I’m excited to see how fast I can go, and I like being in boats. I’m going to do Everett Rowing. I haven’t started yet; I think it starts maybe a week after school ends. It’s for beginners, but I have to take a swim test first. I’d like to meet some more, I guess. I think it will be an interesting experience because I’ve done other team sports and I like the feel of it. I like the togetherness and the sportsmanship. It’s like a family. I did cross country in the first semester, but I wasn’t very good at it, and I ended up leaving. If I’m not good at a sport, it’s not going to be very fun. For rowing, everyone’s going to be a beginner, there’s not going to be such a level difference, I think. I feel like it’s going to be easier to get along with everybody since they’ll all be at the same level. It will probably be more of a hobby, but we’ll see ‘cause my sister ended up doing it for a couple years before stopping. I’d go to my sister’s regattas, the competitions, they had one at Green Lake and we went to Oregon one time, and I think Canada. It depends on what level you’re at. I feel more comfortable doing it because she did it.
