“Being a transfer student is interesting because adjusting to a new environment was definitely tricky, but through the process I was able to make new friends and meet new people. Also exploring a new school district. When I first transferred, I for sure thought that I would not be able to adjust, however, I was able to assimilate to the school culture quickly from how homey the school felt. This experience really helped me gain a sense of belonging and through this, I was able to make new friends without having that sense of exclusion from everyone else. Now, I am still going through this process, although the school year is almost over, but it is still definitely a new ride with many new events happening to me. This upcoming school year, I will be attending running start, so this process will not fully bloom to its fullest extent, but nevertheless, I still had my ups and downs through experiencing high school in a new environment. In the next school year, I am planning on doing full-time running start, so I won’t be able to attend Glacier Peak as much as I currently am this year. I will be enrolling in PE in my senior year, so I will still be connected, but not as much. This change, of course, will not allow me to experience a full, typical senior high school, which is solely my decision. Personally, I do not think I would be enrolling in running start if I were to attend my old school, Jackson High School. I attended Jackson for my freshman and sophomore year, and when I did, I met many new people, and had some of the most fun that I have ever had in my life. And that was only accomplished through meeting my closest friends, who are still very close to me today, and unfortunately, those bonds had to be paused or stopped for a long time. This is one of the harsh downs of transferring schools, but life goes on.”
