“I had this whole talk with my friends the other day about college. I was wondering, do colleges look for a 4.0 GPA or do they consider your overall classes? Do they look that you took an AP class, regardless of if you took the test, or do they mainly look at GPA? Some of us were talking about how we believe that GPA should be weighted because some people are taking harder classes so your GPA’s going to be affected by it because it’s harder. So it’s like people who did easier classes, not that it’s easier to get a 4.0, but it’s an easier class if that makes sense. All people who take AP classes risk their GPA. It’s like either you risk your GPA and your GPA affects your entry into college, or you take AP classes and the hopefully the collage considers that you took those classes and that’s why your GPA’s not a perfect 4.0, or you take normal classes and try to get a 4.0. Lots of people’s GPA drops even if they were perfect before because they’re taking harder classes. If I want to go to these certain college’s, each college is wanting a different thing from me and it really just depends on their beliefs or systems. I had a really hard time picking between AP or Running Start. Some colleges don’t accept Running Start which is kind of silly because I’m taking classes and not even being considered that I took it, or I don’t even get the credit. Or, I can take AP courses but some of them won’t even consider it AP, some will just consider it a normal class. So, it’s like where do you start? Running Start, AP classes, or normal classes? I want to go to a good college, but each college wants a different thing from me.”
