“I’m hyped for the basketball season for band because first of all, it’s better than football. In football you’re outside and it’s really cold and four hours long. It’s definitely a journey. For basketball you are inside, and the snacks are better. I go and I get food and energy drinks. I bring my book so that I can read while I’m there. I always make sure I have my water in my tote bag. I’m going to do my homework during the basketball game, I have it all planned out. I almost got hit by a ball last year and somebody’s stand fell on me, that was good times. Everybody in band is different and that’s something that I like so much but it’s kind of weird that there are cliques in band. Something that I like about the band community a lot is how you become friends with the people that you are around. I’m around the flute section and I have become friends with a lot of them just through forced proximity. If you are having trouble they can help you out, they give you tips, and I feel like I’ve grown as a musician from my section helping me.”
