Q: “What’s it like being in JROTC?”
A: “It’s pretty great. I do a lot of fun stuff, work out twice a week and inspections on Friday’s where we wear our uniforms and practice knowledge. I started sophomore year but the reason I continued with it is because it provides a great way to practice leadership, and you get a lot of experience learning how to manage people and deadlines and there’s a lot of responsibilities that come with the class. There have been plenty of past cadets that I look up to that have now graduated, one of them being a senior last year and he’s now getting a full scholarship to U-dub for JROTC. We have a mess night every year which is where we all get together as a company and it’s like, we have dinner and stuff and one of the things we do is we make skits, so there have been some skits that’ve been pretty fun. A guy, like a squad did an impression of one of the scenes from Full Metal Jacket. I feel like there’s just weird stuff that happens every day so it’s hard to get an exact thing.”
