“Bharatanatyam is a major form of Indian Classical Dance that originated in South India. I have been dancing Bharatanatyam for more than six years. When I joined Bharatanatyam, I instantly loved it and felt the connection with it, it also helps me go back to my roots. When I dance, I feel all the emotions that I am trying to convey through dancing and since Bharatanatyam is not just a dance but a form of art, it helps me express my emotions so much easier. After completing my graduation, I want to earn a master’s in dance along with being a doctor. Many aspects of Bharatanatyam are based off Hindu Mythology and the stories that are told reflect the Hindu Gods making it much more expressive. Despite this, pursuing dance and being a dancer isn’t easy. I practice more than 5 hours after school when preparing for performances. However, that doesn’t stop me from loving what I do. The practices are stressful but it’s fun to dance and take a break from school and social life.”
