Summer 2023 is Around the Corner

With the school year coming to an end, students begin to think about their summer plans. From relaxing at home to traveling the world, summer break is a beloved respite from the busy school year. “We’re going to Hawaii, so that’s really fun. In Hawaii, I’m going to two different islands, and I think I’m going to go see the sea horses at the sea horse farm,” junior Makenzie Powers said.

One of this years’ exchange students from France discusses what she’ll do when she leaves America. “In August, my plan is to go somewhere in France with my friends and maybe leave one week with my parents, probably to Portugal,” senior Eloise Inacio said.

Memories of years past also bubble up as June 21 draws near. Disney seems to be the theme. “I think my favorite summer trip was 2021, I went to Disneyland with my best friend’s family, and it was so much fun,” junior Maura Hyatt said.

“I went to Disneyland for the first-time last year with my little cousins and that was really fun, except I threw up after Space Mountain, and there’s a picture of me looking chartreuse green and gripping the seat and my cousin so she wouldn’t fall out,” Powers said.

Summer can also be fun if you don’t have any plans for an exotic vacation. “Sometimes it’s just good to take a walk and observe the landscape and talk to people,” Inacio said.
