Our FCCLA club just came back from a field trip in Oahu, Hawaii. They left on Wednesday, March 19 and came back on Sunday, March 23. Mrs. Harrelson brought Mrs. Nicholson as her other chaperon on the field trip. Olivia Apostolos, Morgen Bock-Renz, Alisa Gladkikh, and Yuana Kobori all attended this field trip after being in FCCLA for over a whole school year and participating in all of their fundraisers. During this field trip they visited around the island of Oahu. On the first day, they landed and immediately went on a farm tour and Costco before resting for the evening. “The airplane ride went by superfast, I watched Batman and slept while listening to music. I was so excited to get there,” Apostolos said.
On their second day of being in Hawaii, they woke up early to go on a sunrise hike. “We went on a wonderful hike at Diamond Head during the sunrise. It was a stunning hike that took around 40 minutes to climb up, once we got to the top we were met with a gorgeous view of Waikiki Beach and the area surrounding it. Overall the view was so worth the hike and it was so much fun,” said Morgen.
That same day they visited food trucks to see how they run and stay in business, they went zip lining and then to dinner. “Ziplining was so much fun, we had really good guides which made the experience more enjoyable so we didn’t have to stress about getting off track, I think it was a really good and fun bonding experience for all of us, and we got to just relax and have fun,” said Alisa.
On the third day, they woke up, headed to a donut shop in the morning for breakfast, and finally got time to rest at the beach and all hang out together. Later that day they got to go on a walk that led to a beautiful waterfall. That same night they went to a Luau. “The Luau was a very fascinating event to show tourists like us how amazing and educational Hawaiian culture is, whether it was the activities, the food, or the dances, the Luau was an incredible place to learn about Hawaii and how diverse and unique their culture is. I had the best experience there because I couldn’t help but feel in awe about the entire thing from start to finish, especially the dances. For me, this was a very special moment and I wish I could relive it all over again, ” said Yuana.
On the fourth day, they went to an acai bowl place to get some food and then toured a macadamia nut farm, they got to learn about how to harvest, bake, and eat them. Their last day was a travel day to head back home after days in paradise.
