While often seen as one of the hardest AP classes, AP physics is an overall combination of math and science, leading it to be beneficial for anyone interested in pursuing STEM. The classes offer a deep dive into physics problem solving as well as general physics concepts which many students find the class to be beneficial for their futures.
“I would recommend AP physics. It teaches you a lot of very important concepts and math for all STEM and engineering fields. Not to mention the teacher is very fun and takes a lot of care making the class entertaining with her own ‘questions of the week.’ The course work is hard but a worthy challenge,” Jack Swafford said.
Amongst the recommendations for the class, many students need to be wary, understanding that this class isn’t an easy A and requires thorough effort.
“For me personally, AP physics is really hard so if I could go back and try taking just the basic physics I would, but I think that for someone who is really good about doing their work, staying motivated, and is really good at math then I would definitely take it because you get a lot of college credits,” Mia Dunlap said. “It’s a hard class, but I think anyone who is super passionate about things that physics involve should take it because I know other people that really enjoy it.”
Focusing on all types of mechanisims, analysis, and math base techniques, AP physics helps many with real world concepts and starts them on their future STEM paths. If the class seems too rigorous, there is always the option for the non-AP edition of the physics class, which is more commonly taken before taking it as an AP, but is also taught by Mrs. Moon. The only differences truly being the workload and all depending on staying motivated throughout the year.
