As more sports coverage continues to expand across the state, local athletes and teams are finally getting the recognition they deserve. More and more, media outlets are focusing on standout matchups, star players, and high-performing teams, bringing much-needed attention to the incredible talent at Glacier Peak High School.
One local high school sports reporter, Joey Rorem, has been going to more of Glacier Peak’s games and posting TikToks and Instagram reels highlighting our star players. Whether it’s a rivalry game against Lake Stevens or a highly anticipated game, we can count on getting a spotlight in the media from Rorem. “I look at the best matchups in the state and decide from there,” Rorem said.
For example, the Glacier Peak boys and girls basketball teams. Both teams have been creating waves in their leagues and could be contenders for state titles if everything falls into place. “Brynna Pukis and Jo Lee are two of the top-ranked players in the state, and they have so much more talent across their teams as well,” Rorem said. This level of recognition has become more common, with reporters eager to showcase players who may be overlooked by larger media outlets, highlighting the exceptional talent in the area.
For those working behind the scenes, the passion for sports goes hand-in-hand with creativity. “I love sports and I love being creative. I also love my state,” Rorem said, “combining these three passions makes creating content fun for me while helping uplift athletes.” It’s this blend of personal enthusiasm and dedication that has resulted in more coverage for not just Glacier Peak, but more local teams and players. These creators are doing more than just reporting scores, they’re crafting stories, celebrating achievements, and helping to elevate athletes to the recognition they deserve.
