Who would have thought that old cameras that take film and digital photos would be trending again? Digital and film cameras are back. Many teenagers are using digital and film cameras to take their Instagram pictures and capture memories today. These digital and film cameras capture memories in a unique way.
These older cameras from parents are making a comeback. Teenagers say they like the older film look for a more aesthetically pleasing photo. Parents love this too because their kids are putting their old cameras back into use instead of just sitting away in storage. They are able to share stories with their kids about where their digital cameras have been in the past. Maybe kids will even discover old pictures of their parents. “I got my digital camera from my mom, it used to be hers and so she passed it down to me,” Makena Olson said.
There are so many kinds of digital and film cameras that teens have today, digital cameras can be kept forever and once you take the photo you can go back and look at it immediately. Once taken you can upload the picture straight to your phone using the SD card and even with a special cord that connects directly to your phone. “I have a Canon G7x digital camera that I take with me to hang out with my friends and on vacation to take cute photos,” Samantha Thoma said.
However, with film cameras you just snap a pic and hope for the best when it’s developed. They are more of a one-time use with a limited number of pictures per camera. Once you take them all you send them into a film camera printer or bring them to a store that prints film, and they will digitally or physically get your photos back for you to enjoy. “I use a Fuji disposable camera because you never see the pictures until it is developed, so it’s a fun surprise,” Elsa Enger said.
