Winter is almost here, and students are excited to jump into their favorite cold-weather activities. Whether it’s speeding through the snow or enjoying cozy moments with loved ones, everyone has a unique way of making the most of the season.
Sophomore Jorja Marie has a winter tradition that’s all about adrenaline. “It’s not really something everyone does, but when it snows, we get our side-by-sides and attach a rope with a sled on it,” Marie explained. “We do donuts in the snow, and the person on the sled tries to hang on as long as possible before they get thrown off into the snow. We also go back and forth between the hot tub and the snow, seeing who can stay in the snow the longest before going back in the hot tub.”
For others, it’s about soaking in the holiday season. “I love going sledding when it snows, and seeing all the Christmas lights,” said sophomore Emily Burkholder. “We usually drive through different neighborhoods just to check out the decorations. This year, we’re planning a trip to Warm Beach to see all the houses decked out in Christmas lights.”
Senior Callan Childs enjoys a mix of action and relaxation during the winter. “I really love skiing with my family,” Childs shared. “We usually head up to the mountains in our truck, all six of us. We do night skiing most of the time and after a few hours on the slopes, we come back home, drink hot chocolate, and sit by the fire together.”
From wild sledding stunts to cozy family traditions, students have plenty of ways to embrace the winter season. Whether it’s the thrill of the snow or the warmth of holiday lights, there’s something magical about these shared moments that make the winter season such a great time of year.
