With the school year coming to an end, many club officers are moving on from GP and graduating. While we are sad to be watching our fellow Grizzlies move on, there are many other new, exciting things to celebrate, such as the election of new club officers. The Theatre Club has just officially announced the new club officers for the 2024-2025 school year. Veronica Nelson said, “I am the acting president of Theatre Club, and I ran because I wanted to make sure everyone’s voice in the club is heard. I want to leave this club in a good position so they can continue doing fun, innovative things when I leave. I also would like to reinstate the cabaret and bring it back and bring more life to it.”
With Nelson now moving up from vice president to current acting president, that leaves a new spot open for Theare Club’s next up and coming vice president, Abby Savage. “I am the vice president and I decided to run for vice president so that I could work alongside people and be the face of theatre.” Savage said. “I hope to connect more of theatre together and to make it a more fun environment for people to enjoy. I’m looking forward to having some sort of authority in making decisions in theatre to help better the club.”
Besides acting president and vice president, there are also other positions that are being filled with our seniors graduating. Secretary is one of those roles, which is being filled by Will Lemcio. “I am the secretary, and I ran for that because I really wanted to be a part of the officer team; I thought it would be really fun. One of my main goals, because I know it’s kind of hard during rehearsals when we are all doing different things, is to connect the cast and crew more and find more ways to do so.” Lemcio said.
Our current graduating acting president, Cole Harback, said, “It’s pretty bittersweet because at the same time I am happy to be leaving high school, but I’m also sad to be leaving Theatre Club because I have spent a lot of time there and have built a lot of friendships, but I think it is time to move on.”
