Love is a social thing, especially in the hormone-rampant teens of high school. The product of this is a plentiful number of public displays of affection, also known as PDA. Although the couples of the school seem to be alright with it, some students have started to be vocal about the discomfort it brings. “I love it, I think we need more of it! That was a joke, I hate it. It makes me feel uncomfortable. It’s cute when they’re just holding hands, but actual PDA, that’s where it’s like yeah, no,” One freshman student, Arleen Segura, said
While some students are troubled by the couples, others do not mind. “I don’t really care, because it’s their business not my business. I just talk with my friends and pass it,” Junior Jesus Juarez Lopez said
“I think it’s really cute. Little couples, you know? Like, if I know them, I think it’s great. Although, if they’re smacking each other, smacking lips I mean, it’s uncomfortable. If my mom came in and saw something like that on my TV screen she’d get mad, she wouldn’t like it,” Another student, Freshman Sophia Pucek, said
Overall, the opinions on PDA seem incredibly split. An article by The Bright Side states witnessing Public Displays of Affection brings out feelings of not belonging, and even brings out a need of needing to flee the scene in some people. It is a topic that will continually brought up, but a final opinion on it may never be decided.
