The Return of the Queen: Beyoncé is Back

Hiro Hirano-Holcomb, Staff Writer

In the Friends Arena in Stokholm, Sweden, fans from around the world begin to flood the stadium in their best Beyonce-themed outfits and newly revealed, as always ridiculously priced tour merchandise as they await the long-anticipated return of Beyonce Knowles-Carter to the stage to kick off the Renaissance World Tour after almost 7 years since her last solo tour for her Grammy winning album, Lemonade, and almost 5 years since her last world tour with husband Jay-Z after releasing their joint album, Everything is Love and Beyonce’s iconic Coachella performance in 2018 as the first Black woman to headline the music festival in its history.

When she released her critically acclaimed and internationally successful album, Act I: Renaissance, many fans could not help but want visuals to the chart-topping songs, especially after how iconic her visual artistry has become. Beginning with the unconventional and unique practice of accompanying each song on her self-titled album released in 2013 with a music video, she continued to bend boundaries in the music industry with the 65 minute film that accompanied her 2016 album, Lemonade, and Black is King, a movie by Beyoncé with music and visuals inspired by the live action version of the Lion King and that accompanied the album also inspired by the movie, The Lion King: The Gift. But after the release of a teaser for Renaissance visuals in July of 2022, fans have since remained waiting for the highly anticipated visuals. Fans, including myself, are still hopeful that we will see the visuals within our lifetime.

As a virtual ghost and celebrity who has kept up a very private personal life, fans look forward to seeing the increased content that will result in Beyoncé returning to the stage starting tonight. Following her European leg of the Renaissance World Tour, she will be returning to North America and will eventually have a performance in Seattle on September 13th of 2023 at Lumen Field which I, of course, will be attending. Tickets are still available on Ticketmaster.
