Sports Med Club’s ASMR

Sports Med Club's ASMR

Jordan Gaffney, Yearbook Staff

The Sports Med Club will be holding its first ever ASMR (Amazing Sports Med Race) on Friday, Feb. 10. To complete the race, you must tape different body parts, make an ice bag, carry someone on a blanket, answer trivia questions, and many other fun events. This race will be competed with teams of three, and it is required that all competing, if not already in Sports Med Club, are currently taking Sports Med one or two.

The Sports Medicine Club is a very small club, despite the number of kids that take the Sports Med one and two classes. The club is looking for new members to join as they meet during Grizzly period on Thursdays, so it is easy for anyone to stop by. The weekly meeting involves finding new ways to better their sports med skills and looking for opportunities to meet with sports med professionals.

“I really enjoy being in sports med club, the meetings are always fun because we just get to talk and learn about helping injuries. It is really good to be a part of the club if you are an athlete since you will learn how to help yourself if you get hurt and pretty much everyone in the club is an athlete,” Club President Nico Omega said.

Sports Med Club is a fun and easy club that anyone can join. It is not necessary to know anything about sports med prior to joining the club, but it is recommended because the meetings tend to be based around knowledge of sports medicine. Everyone is always welcome to join the meeting and learn if they do not know anything.”We normally just talk about injuries and what we can do as outreach to better our sports med skills and teach others about it,” Erika Meadows said.

The Sports Med Club welcomes any newcomers who might be interested in sports medicine, and anyone can join that wants to learn more, even if they are not taking the class.
