Over 172 million Americans celebrate Halloween every year, and among those who celebrate Halloween 95% will buy candy. When trick-or-treating, kids tend to scout out the houses that hand out the king size candy bars or the top candy brands. You could be going for chocolate, or more of a fruity kind, or just going for numbers. Data collected over a 12-year span ending last year from candystore.com shows Americas top choices for candy when trick or treating.
Coming in at the number five spot is Starburst, a heavy hitter for non-chocolate candies. In the number four spot is Snickers, a classic original chocolate and peanut bar. Moving up the ladder at the number three spot is M&M’s. What’s not to like about these chocolate candies? In second place leading in the chocolate race is Reese’s cups. Not much can top the peanut butter and chocolate circular blocks of heaven. Coming in first place for the candy of the year is Skittles, a fan favorite that really helps us taste the rainbow.
