With the fall play opening November 15th , lots of excitement and nerves fill the air for both cast, crew, and production team members. Everyone has been working very hard spending many hours both after school and on weekends to put this show together to perform. “I am excited about opening because it shows off all our hard work that went into it and the countless hours we have spent working on it. It is also stressful because at the end of the day it is live theatre and things can go wrong so I’m just hoping that it all goes great.” Caiah Wednt said.
Someone else who has played a major role in the set up in this production is Sara Moffat. “I am an assistant stage manager meaning that during shows I will be on the side of the stage and make sure props and set go on properly, I’ll make sure cast and crew are all where they are supposed to be at all times, and if something were to go wrong, I am default.” Moffat said. “We have been doing this for so long and I’m very excited to see the whole thing come to proportion so we can finally see the show.”
The production team has also been extremely busy in making this production possible. Assistant director Freja Jorgensen said “my job is mainly to make sure [Radium Girl’s director] Terrie Lemcio’s vision comes to life. I’ll look at acting and give acting notes, I’ll look at lights and make sure actors are visible, looking at costumes, and overall making sure the story makes sense. I am really excited for opening because GP hasn’t done a show like this in a long time and I think our audience is going to be very surprised with how much they feel, I think it is a lot of emotion and it’s going to be really fun.”
Hayden Ausneburg is very excited for opening night mainly based on the performing aspect of it. “My favorite part about performing is the process” Austneburg said, “because after all the hard work you put in you get to see what you’ve created, and you get to show the audience. I am very excited for opening because everything has come together beautifully. There haven’t been many hiccups, the set looks great, the lights have come together really well, and I love my costumes so I can’t wait to put them back on for opening.”
The overall show itself is a somewhat historical yet emotional and dramatical production. “It’s a good informational piece set to a dramatic pace with a few fun jokes spread throughout.” Dane Smith said. “It’s a bit different than our other plays because it’s more focused on the somber tone of the situation (The Radium Girls and their stories), but we still try to include interesting things to keep the viewer’s attention, so I’d definitely suggest going to see it.”
